More than 400 scholars start new academic year 2022-23

After a peak year in 2021 with the highest recorded number of scholarship applications, Association Philippe Jabre continues to attract hundreds of applications from Lebanese students wishing to continue their studies.

This year the APJ granted 84 new scholarships, and continues to provide financial support to scholarship holders from preceding years who are continuing their academic programs.

“The economic outlook for Lebanon is worse than in previous years, a factor that influences young people’s aspirations to continue their higher education studies,” says Joumana Sabbagh, director of APJ. “This is why it is important to maintain our mission and provide support to those who believe that education is a way forward for them and the country.”

Out of the total scholarships granted and maintained this year, the majority are for studies at universities abroad and the rest in Lebanon. France is this year’s leading destination for Lebanese students studying abroad. The remaining universities abroad are across Europe and the United States.

The APJ has continued to receive scholarship applications across all academic domains, including IT, medicine, finance, engineering, media, education and others. This shows that Lebanese students remain interested in various subjects of studies.

“This year too, we have accepted all specializations, without discrimination, of course”, adds Joumana Sabbagh.
