One of the Association Philippe Jabre objectives is to partner with similar-minded institutions and initiatives that meet the real needs of Lebanese society.
The APJ is proud to offer financial support to the “بيت جدودنا” (Our Grandparents’ Home) project, in the village of Beit Mery in Mount Lebanon.
Led by Yara Bou Aoun and a group of volunteers, the initiative provides “a home for the homeless elders” in order to keep them away from the dangers of the street.
The shelter provides the residents with food and medicine, as well as basic comforts including furniture, internet, television, and phone. It is already home to 12 elders, living together as a family.
As mentioned in a recently published article in the961, “Yara and her mother, with the help of the village, prepare the meals for them and organize and clean the house, ensuring a decent and comfy dwelling where the elders are properly cared for. Medical care is also being provided to them.”
You can read more about Yara’s initiative in the article This Lebanese Woman is Saving Homeless Elders from the Streets published by the961.
